Roughly 10 years before the very first Hummer was taken in use with the U.s. army, there were all kinds of test vehicles. This is one of the testprotoypes and dates from 1972.
The off-roader listened to the name “FMC XR311” and was purchased in the seventies by the American army. In those years, the Americans were looking for a hooligan-proof vehicle, which is also future-proof.
FMC Corporation built two prototypes of the all-terrain vehicle for the army. The XR311 is powered by a Chrysler V8 and delivers 190 hp, divided over all four wheels. The design was taken into account to a mobile .50 caliber M2HB machine gun to carry and possibly even anti-tank guns.
Unfortunately, the chance of this occasion, not the necessary weapons. The XR311 is currently on sale in Columbus, Ohio. With an asking price of 39.995 dollar is not the cheapest trucks on the market. Is the car a one-of-a-kind and has the green prototype a rich history. The off-roader is straatlegaal and can thus be directly from the showroom to be driven.
