Every car enthusiast will be the legendary Renault 4 know, but do you know his immediate predecessor, the Juvaquatre, also?
The Juvaquatre is a car with a tainted past, as designed by Louis Renault himself. This old nazi sympathizer traveled in the Hitlertijd regularly to Germany, where he impressed from the first generation Kadett (1936-1940). Put ‘his’ Juvaquatre sedan next to it and you will see the similarities.
Only after the Second world War, there was a stationwagenvariant, which from 1956 as Dauphinoise life would go. With its vertical grille and closely spaced headlights, it was a recognizable appearance. The bestelwagenvariant, who already before the war, was available as handling sessions, and among other as the mail service did, was after the war, renamed the “fourgonette”.
Under the hood of this Fransozen layers of engines that ranged from 747 cc to 1003 cc, linked to a tray with 3 gears. Kerb weight of the bestelvariant 810 kg and has a load capacity of 455 kg. The heaviest motorization fired a thick, 24 horsepower on the rigid rear axle, so you should not hurry with the transportation of things. Later, however, the more powerful engines available.
The sedans (if you’re lucky you can walk there just as I, the undersigned, further one on one, against the body in Vietnam – the former French Indochina – but that aside), but not for the 4CV, Renault’s after-war baguette-et-buerre-model, but the Dauphinoise and fourgonette continued to just paste. In 1960 – the year of the introduction of the 4 – was really done with the fun.
In the Netherlands, a gray Fourgonette with under the hood a 850cc engine which is also in the Dauphine was. With 39 hp already a nice step forward compared to his weaker brethren. We introduce ourselves to the owner Ilja Gort-like type, but have not yet been able to check. Both sjoerd95 as a colleague dizono spotting the grey Frenchman this week.
