The Japanese call in the united states alone, but less than 1.368.500 older cars. Various models of risk of developing at short-circuit in the ignition switch, with possible fire hazard. This includes the following types:

The grease around the contacts can char and is therefore potentially conductive. That in turn can lead to a short circuit, and smoke or fire. Or both, because where there is smoke, there is fire. Whether Dutch cars are having to go back for a fix, is not yet known. Mazda the Netherlands could not on the message respond.
