A professor from the University of Utrecht, is of the opinion that the driving test is obsolete and should be abolished.
According to the professor Peter-Jan Engelen is the driving test a snapshot. Thus, it is not a good benchmark for what a director can. He would therefore prefer a system in which driving schools a longer period to judge people on their driving skills.
According to Angels would be the rijvaardigheidsopleiding need to look at education. Continuous evaluation and more diversity in key and examenvormen would be a future driver much better prepare on the current traffic and modern techniques. The current exam is leaning, according to him, knowledge and expertise of, say, 20 years ago and is therefore outdated.
According to him, has a driving instructor a much better picture of the skills of a pupil, the examiner can get during the short time in which an exam is taken. An examiner does, of course, a snapshot in time and if he has his day happen has not you can go to your driver’s license flutes. An instructor sees a future driver for a long time, and can therefore better assess how a student, on average, performs in the traffic.
The argument that instructors are not well enough trained for such tasks, waves, Angels way: “Nobody likes the government against higher requirements.” The driving test more rigorous to make fixes, according to him, nothing, a total reform of the driver training is needed. “Schools and universities make for years: that systems of continuous assessment can work.”
Angels shared his findings in a column that follows on planned reforms around the Belgian driver’s license. If the proposal of Angels continues, at least we know that someone who is good in bed, the car no problems need to have with the pick up of his/her driver’s license. What do you think? Is a driving test necessary, or would it be better if you have your entire driver training assessment? Or is there perhaps a different form, who can do better?
