First arms sale USA to Taiwan in years
WASHINGTON –
The Us government has on Wednesday the sale of 1.83 billion dollars in weapons to Taiwan are approved. The delivery includes two frigates, anti-tank missiles, amphibious aanvalsvoertuigen and other military equipment.

The approval comes a year after Congress enacted a law had been adopted to the arms sales. It is the first major arms sale from the U.S. to Taiwan in more than four years. The controversial weapons delivery encounter resistance in China, which Taiwan regards as a renegade province.
Previous arms sales to Taiwan led always to strong condemnations by China. A spokesman of the Us ministry of Foreign Affairs said that there is no change in the long-term U.s. ‘one China policy’.
