Tomorrow in cinemas throughout the country will begin showing the seventh part of the legendary space Saga “Star wars.” Google, in collaboration with the studios of LucasFilm and Industrial Light & Magic decided to please fans by releasing an experimental browser-based game, with which anyone can become a Jedi knight and pick up a lightsaber.
In 2009, Google has launched Chrome Experiments, which is trying to show ordinary users the capabilities of your browser. In order to play the game Lightsaber Escape, inspired by the Star Wars series, all you need is a desktop version of the Chrome browser (other browsers for obvious reasons are not supported) and smartphone. To begin, point your browser to the game site, located at this link. On the opened page you will see a short link, which you need to drive in the address bar of the browser on your smartphone.
As soon as all necessary data will be loaded into the computer’s memory, and the smartphone is synchronized with it by means of technologies WebRTC and WebSockets, you will get a virtual copy of the lightsaber. Each stroke of a smartphone will appear inside the game in real time. But note that much depends on the speed of your Internet connection, and if you have a slow line, then be prepared for serious delays between movement and action of the character on the screen. All the game’s graphics are rendered using WebGL technology, it is unlikely to be able to compete with other modern video games, but given that the project is run in the browser, it’s not so bad.
