With a new season of Top Gear (starting this Sunday) for the door explores Jezza as the limits of freedom of expression, and throws the recent Charlie Hebdo drama in the fight.
Clarksons weekly column in the Sun (you know, that newspaper today on page 3 always fresh tietjesnieuws brought) focuses on the H982 FKL-debacle of Top Gears christmas. Critics said afterwards that the wages earned was from the men, because they are the locals against their sore leg had kicked (by the way, were the gentlemen millionaires will probably be safely in a helicopter while their crew the stones should heads, but that aside). Clarkson accused these same critics now of hypocrisy, because they have all the violence against Charlie Hebdo sharply condemned.
“Are we allowed to offend? Or aren’t we?“, ask the Clarkster, and saves me the shelf completely wrong. First, it was the whole nummerbordkwestie completely by accident, so claimed the team until now always at high and low, so is the question related to this topic already irrelevant.
Second, the comparison between a car with 3 teen in their forties/fifties, that is somewhat provocative and the murdering of a complete editorial staff, plus a number of agents completely lame, and the Hebdo issue is, anyway, still a fresh open wound. A little restraint might be in order. But anyway, Clarkson moves on to the place where he is undeniably the most in his element: on slippery ice.
These are just my two cents, if you are milder compared to our favourite English provocateur, then that is equally possible. Let it but on account that we in any case have meaning in season 22 of Top Gear, next Sunday to start!
