Oh, wait. A good clickbait title, the answer is surprising. Of course we knew for a long time, but it’s nice to be scientifically proven.
At the end of the season to publish tire manufacturer Pirelli with a list of statistics about the past year. This year there is a total of exactly 509 times overtaken, while that in the previous year 636 times. Strikingly enough, the circuit where this year the most was caught up (60 times), a creation of the much popular Herman Track: Sepang Internation Circuit, Malaysia. On paper this is a few impressive season, but we know better. That also has everything to do with the following getalletje.
No one less than rookie and national hero, Max Verstappen is the King of Inhaalacties with less than 49 ingehaalde opponents (evidence HERE). Sebastian Vettel made the most overtaking in one race: of 13, during the Grand Prix of Canada. Hamilton and Rosberg were both the least caught up, both of them only three times. Those two really do have a boring job.
For Pirelli, the most important number: the teams hunted there this year 17580 straps through. Unfortunately for the rubberboer there were 2448 less than in 2014. There was also less stopped, a total of 706 times (a min of 109 t.o.v. 2014) and the average number of pit stops per driver decreased va 2.02 to 1.88.
