Ford Visos: forgotten concept (2003)

Equally, just for a moment, it seemed that Ford Capri new life would blow.

From 1998 sells Ford Cougar, a large coupe based on the Mondeo, and obviously styled to the rules of Ford’s New Edge design language. In 2002 the plug because of a lack of success from the Cougar pulled and about Ford in Europe without the coupe (the Puma disappeared a year earlier from the market).

That seems to be Ford right to convert, as in 2003, the Ford Visos Concept makes its debut at the IAA Frankfurt. Of typical New Edge design seems to be out of the question, the Visos is all minimalism, with a few subtle hints to the legendary Capri. The curved line of the rear side window, the two luchtroostertjes in the flanks, here is just the Capri II!!! Fortunately, expires Ford is not in a pure retro design, the Visos is a modern shooting brake which is just a polite nod to its predecessor.

That Ford is not explicitly denies that the Visos is going into production, and the fact that the Visos a fully functional prototype, suggests that there are serious plans for production. And with Ford’s knowledge of chassis, should be a fantastic car. Unfortunately, it should not be so. Or the Visos is now really only a design study was made, or that the idea of a new Capri by the management is fired, I don’t know. Years later, the rumours of a new Capri resurface, but now comes the affordable coupe. Therefore, we have to make do with the pictures of the now already twelve years old, but still attractive Visos Concept.
