American and Canadian owners of a swaffeldiesel can count on a compensation à USD 1,000 in the nose. Volkswagen gives European owners at the same time, the finger, according to ANE. On this side of the pond, customers are spoiled with a “package of measures to ensure that owners of cars are inconvenienced as little as possible when their vehicles are recalled for fixes to make them compliant with type approval regulations.” In good Dutch: a big shit with a golden inpakpapiertje around it.

That VW the swaffeldiesels in accordance with the laws and regulations change, is in my eyes not a real compensation for the people that ‘m now stuck to squeeze due to the possible inkakken of the residual value of their cars. That smacks rather to adhere to the law, in the first instance, all you had to do. (CAN YOU DIG IT?!)

Perhaps the difference in compensation has something to do with the fact that the US ‘only 482.000 sjoemeldiesels rondkachelen, as against 8.5 million units in Europe. Moreover, in America are frequently advertised with ‘Clean diesel’-the slogans and (according to VW, not I) ‘invest in Us clients, in a niche technology compared with European customers, because here you will drive half of the cars sold on diesel.

In all probability, can VW a hefty not bundled claim to expect from European owners, who of course also are aware of how their peers in America are treated. Will be undoubtedly continued.
