Elon Musk has founded NGOs to work on “good artificial intelligence for all”

The interest of such companies as Facebook and Google, in the development of artificial intelligence has led to the emergence of a scientific non-profit organizations (NPOs), which will deal with problems that may arise in the development of self-learning computers. The initiative has received the name of OpenAI. The founders are CEO of Tesla Elon Musk, head of Amazon Web Services Sam Altman, one of the founders of the venture Fund Y Combinato Jessica Livingston, and several other well-known personalities.

A key task of the new scientific NGOs will be to study the development of artificial intelligence, which will not constitute a danger for humanity. While Musk believes that the development of AI should be performed not on a simple whim of any individual company or person. The main idea of NCO’s Mask is that all research on the development of artificial intelligence should be transparent, and new patents (and if) will be created in these conditions, open to all.

Apart from the problem to share with the world his research, OpenAI goal to pay serious attention to potential hazards that can be expected in the study of such technologies.

“It’s hard to imagine how much benefit you will be able to bring sverkhprovodimosti AI of human level, and not less difficult to imagine what damage can be caused to society if this AI will be created and used incorrectly and criminal”, — stated in the application.

“We believe that the best vector of development of AI will become a choice in favor of the ideals of freedom and equality. The AI needs to be spread widely and without privilege among all members of society,” shared Altman in an interview with the Western portal of the Medium.

Head studies of the new NGOs will become expert in machine learning Ilya Sutzkever, who previously worked on Google Brain. The co-chairs of the company will be Elon Musk and Sam Altman. On the basis of NCB Elon Musk, Sam Altman, Peter Thiel, Reid Hoffman, Jessica Livingston and other investors were allocated a total of $ 1 billion.

Despite their concerns, Musk still believes in the power of the AI for the people:

“I believe that the best protection against misuse AI is the ability to do so, so the AI could use as many people as possible. That is, make it completely open to everyone. If everyone will have access to AI, it will not be a single person or a small group of people who could have the exclusive right to exploit all of the power of artificial intelligence that will surpass human capabilities millions of times”.
