BMW i3 Range Extender – 7% of list price

The BMW i3 is the first fully electric designed car from BMW. The i3 is also without the range extender, which has 4% additional tax liability.

The full electric BMW i3 has a theoretical range of 200 km, in practice there remain up to 120 km of about. The version with range extender goes a little further. The range extender of the i3 is a two-cylinder motorcycle engine with 34 hp, which merely is used to allow the battery to charge. The fuel tank is only 9 litres and the range for the version with range extender takes only add up to 300 km (in theory). More details can be read in the driving test of the BMW i3 (video).

– Performance (except top speed) are more than sufficient.

Disadvantages
Design will not be everyone’s taste.
– Range, even for the version with range extender.
– Space inside not that much.
– Entry in the rear by suicide doors, is cumbersome.
– Do not have the same sporty handling as other BMW cars.
