Will the 10-year-old Core i3-2100 handle new games with a flagship graphics card?

Experts from the YouTube channel GECID.com tested an assembly based on an Intel Core i3-2100 processor with a SAPPHIRE Radeon RX 6900 XT NITRO + SE graphics card in 20 modern games on GECID.com on YouTube. Discuss

The performance of a computer based on Intel Core i3-2100 with a SAPPHIRE Radeon RX 6900 XT NITRO + SE graphics card was tested in 20 games. Among them – Dota 2, World of Tanks, War Thunder, ARK: Survival Evolved, Rust, CS: GO, Rainbow Six: Siege, Escape From Tarkov, Fortnite, PUBG, Apex Legends, StarCraft II, Grand Theft Auto V, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, DOOM Eternal, Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, Cyberpunk 2077, Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite.

In Dota 2 at the minimum graphics settings in the first minutes the game slowed down a little. Then this problem almost disappeared. When the character collides with opponents, the frame rate here drops to 30 fps.

In World of Tanks performance and graphics settings depend on the type of technique used. You can try playing this project with ultra-settings if you like heavy equipment. When using mainly light tanks, it is best to set medium settings to increase the smoothness of the video and comfortable control.

War Thunder comes with high settings. In this case, on average, the performance will be about 60 fps, but you will also encounter jerky footage, which will make it difficult to hit the target. On the medium preset, everything works without problems, although, of course, the graphics quality is not so good.

In ARK: Survival Evolved , you can achieve average performance at the level 60 fps. However, twitching will still be noticeable.

In Rust , if you are within the same location, microfreezes will sometimes slip. The average frame rate in this case will be about 40 fps.

CS: GO runs at 80 fps on average. Otherwise, the parameters are also at an average level during the game.

Rainbow Six: Siege on medium settings starts with an average performance around 70-90 k /with. The controls are responsive too.

In Escape From Tarkov even with a low preset, the frame rate is low. On average, this is less than 30 fps, and there are also constant slowdowns. It's the same with Fortnite . The performance here is about 60 fps, but there are also freezes.

PUBG can only be played on low settings. Even in this case, microfreezes are visible all the time. The average frame rate here is at 50 fps.

In Apex Legends will manage to get 60 fps on average, although you still have to deal with microfreezes all the time. In general, it is quite possible to play.

StarCraft II on average goes from 50 fps with a low preset. There are delays in control and twitching of the video sequence.

Grand Theft Auto V is not very comfortable to play anyway. At the same time, the average frame rate in the city is about 40 fps.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is going hard too. At low settings in the city, it is possible to reach an average of about 50 fps, and in rare and very rare events, the performance drops below 20 fps. Constant twitching is also noticeable. Outside the city, the video sequence becomes smoother.

DOOM Eternal it goes well at high settings. There are microfreezes when loading locations, but otherwise everything is smooth, the controls are responsive. Frame rate is over 100 fps

At minimum settings in Red Dead Redemption 2 , it will be possible to achieve less than 30 fps on average. Accordingly, there is no smoothness of the video sequence, but in general you can play.

In Assassin's Creed: Valhalla , the hero moves for the first 20-30 seconds without slowing down, and then the game freezes for a while. The frame rate is around 40-50 fps.

B Cyberpunk 2077 even at a low preset is almost impossible to play due to the performance of 15 fps on average. Although the game at least starts, and this is a plus.

Forza Horizon 5 at very low parameters runs at a frame rate of 60 fps. At the same time, there are noticeable slowdowns in the control and microfreezes in the video sequence.

Halo Infinite looks good even with low settings. But constant twitching and slight slowdowns in control spoil the impression and prevent you from hitting the target.

Based on the results of the review, the author concluded that with Intel Core i3-2100 you can run most video games. With a mid-range video card, you can even play esports projects. The latest projects are difficult for such a processor, although it is possible to launch them.
