A tiny camera photographed how crows make tools

It is well known that crows are smart enough to do tools. However, to capture this process on video is no easy undertaking. If you do not lure a Raven eating, you can hardly see this behavior.

This problem decided to take the University of Exeter. Scientists have developed cameras that are quite small and light, so they can be hung on the crow and shoot her activity. The cameras record video onto the microSD card and have a special radio transmitter that allows scientists to find the device after it disconnects automatically from the ravens after a few days of work. The result was obtained first in the history of the video showing how the crows in the wild make the tools for the production of food.

This research has already led to new discoveries. For example, the ravens do not throw away their tools when they don’t need them anymore. They also pick up the tools, if they fall to the ground. The obtained data confirm the speculation that the intelligence of crows is on the same level as some primates, and we wouldn’t be surprised if you hear about new discoveries in the near future.
