Researchers from the University of California in Los Angeles published a scientific paper in the journal Nature in which they describe the new material with the highest specific strength compared to all of the materials.

This alloy was obtained by alloying of magnesium with nano-fibers of silicon carbide, which turned a light bendable metal in a rigid, sturdy material.

A team of researchers says that production of the new material can be easily scaled, and the material may find application in the aerospace industry. The transformation of a malleable metal material is lighter and stronger than titanium really opens up the possibility of building spaceships. The new material also can easily tolerate low temperatures is another factor that can make a new basic material for the construction of missiles of the future.
