On top BT6600B is the handle, bottom rubber base with a small exposed legs and the connector to the fitting in the dock. On the bottom surface of the docking station also has a similar elastic band through which column doesn’t go to the table, playing at maximum volume.
The power button itself is not, the column is activated by turning a large silver disk on the top. The launch is accompanied by a characteristic click, reminiscent of the glorious times when every houses was analog audio. This same element is also responsible for volume control. But anything analog, of course, there is no continuous properties. First, the volume changes smoothly, and the visible steps, it is clearly audible. Secondly, in the absence of the signal column switches off automatically and to turn it on again the disc must first be returned to its original position, and then rotate in the direction of increasing the volume passing through a characteristic click. Yes, all is logical, but the feeling of warm nanowaste instantly disappears. But we must pay tribute – in active mode, the column turns on and off instantly.
The bottom panel has a barely noticeable and very dense cover that hides the AUX input and micro-USB and USB. The latter is used only for charging mobile devices and not for storage drives with music, as one might think.
Still on the case speakers, you may notice a button on the speakerphone and NFC logo. The purpose of these elements is easy to guess, but there are also unusual features. But more about this later, but for now I should add that the speaker is protected against dust and moisture according to the standard IPX4. It is possible to use at high humidity (for example, in the shower or even in the sauna), and also under light rain outside, but for diving Philips BT6600B not intended.

The battery life depends on volume level, the claimed 12 hours it meets only at medium volume. The maximum level BT6600 discharged the battery to zero in about 10 hours. As far as the potential of the device in the role of powerbank, it’s not as bad as expected – I managed to charge the iPhone 6S twice (90%) and about three hours to listen to music.
In the end
The character of the sound Philips BT6600B very much like the previous model, BT6000. The bass was slightly deeper, it is felt in some genres of music, but at medium and high frequencies, no difference is audible. Much more interesting is to compare the Philips with 3 popular JBL Flip and JBL Charge 2. Flip is clearly inferior in all respects – it and the volume below, and the sound is not as clean, but it is smaller and lighter, and therefore better suited for continuous wear in a backpack. JBL Charge 2 as a whole is on par, but in bass-oriented genres definitely sounds deeper and juicier.
