Steinwinter Supercargo 2040
Mother. Aller. Trucks.

The thing bears the name 2040. But the design looks anything, anything, except 2040. The particular construction, an invention of Manfred Steinwinter. A Stuttgarter who often bring more cargo to carry than was possible. There had to be a solution, thought the German. This was the beginning of the Supercargo 2040 (1983).

Steinwinter approached Daimler-Benz with his idea for technical support. He began Steinwinter GmbH and logo show off a rearing horse. Perhaps ‘Ferrari’ as the first, but the design actually has everything to do with Stuttgart. The German city used the logo after all, before a Ferrari and a copy catje did.

The German wanted to be a multifunctional platform for drop. In addition to a truck, had a converted trailer or a double decker bus to the cpld. Inside the low cabin were two chairs placed. In the middle of a cabinet, and behind the chairs, a bed. The Supercargo 2040 was powered by a 280 hp Mercedes V8 with 16 gears. The colossus was good for a length of 6.5 metres.

To a successful production is the never come. Steinwinter succeeded, however, in order to build a prototype in 1987 and was exhibited at the IAA in Frankfurt. Unfortunately for the German, wanted Mercedes not to provide money to continue with the project. The design of the truck, without trailer, to me is most reminiscent of a vliegtuigtrekker such as the distribution came from F300. The company produced later cars where often Fiats as the basis were taken. In 1987 stopped Steinwinter, however, with the production of cars.
