The thing bears the name 2040. But the design looks anything, anything, except 2040. The particular construction, an invention of Manfred Steinwinter. A Stuttgarter who often bring more cargo to carry than was possible. There had to be a solution, thought the German. This was the beginning of the Supercargo 2040 (1983).

Steinwinter approached Daimler-Benz with his idea for technical support. He began Steinwinter GmbH and logo show off a rearing horse.
