Not an extensive hardware modification, but a simple sensor of a tenner in the air filter may be the answer to Volkswagens diesel-hoofdpijndossier. Or at least a part of it.

Since VW still does not wish to comment on the news, we don’t know very much about the fix, but German media have uitgevlooid that the 1.6 TDI (EA189) motor – which, thanks to sjoemelsoftware sometimes harder to smoke than Armand (RIP) – possible within the Euro 5-values get with the help of a software update and the said sensor. This would be the group is currently in consultation to the KBA, the German counterpart of the RDW. How the sensor emissions must reduce from the coverage has not clear.

Worldwide there are at least 11 million models of the VW group in dieselgate concerned, in addition to the above possible fix from the 1.6 TDI, the 2.0 TDI with only a software update on the right path, for the 1.2 TDI is still working on a solution.
