In 2013 was in the Netherlands for the second year in a row, less fuel sold. Keywords: fuel-efficient cars and crisis. And then there was still something…

It is a nice phenomenon: the number of miles driven does not seem to decrease, but yet, the marketing of fuels. The Dutch Organisation for the energy Industry (NOVE) looked at recent figures, and concluded that in 2013 and 1.6% less fuel was sold than in 2012. You put the numbers next to 2011, the amount of the decrease to 5%.

And if you’re guzzling old 5 Series trade for an a-segment-koekblikje with the green label that is not greater than 100 is driven, or, oh horror, a Prius, then it saves nicely in the consumption. With an electric car of course, but that runs almost nobody.

Our ailing economy also helped a bit, and lastly, the NOVE to the loss of volume across the border, by the increased price differences. The organization has a link with the Bovag, so this rant should not be missed. In 2014, is also feared that an increase of this boundary effect, by the single trigger plus the automatic indexation of excise duties from 1 January were made.
