Google announced the proof of the efficiency of a quantum computer

Google has announced a breakthrough in the field of quantum computers. This was announced by the developer Hartmut Neven (Hartmut Neven) from the research lab of Google in the company blog. According to him the computer system D-Wave X2, acquired by Google and NASA in 2013, the canadian company D-Wave Systems, really works.

D-Wave was positioned as the world’s first working quantum computer system, although up to this point nobody in the company or outside not been able to conclusively prove that the system really performs calculations using quantum phenomena.

Now Google announced that experimentally proved the efficiency of a quantum system. Moreover, the developers claim that they have found a quantum algorithm that solves the problem 100 million times faster than the simulation of quantum annealing on a single core of a modern CPU.

According to the publication MIT Technology Review, work with the results of the study was not adequately tested by the scientific community, although Hartmut Neven and promises that publications in academic journals will follow soon after online publication.
