Steinitz added that the government actively supports the construction of future infrastructure, which will easily cater for new modes of transport.
“There is active construction of charging stations. To date, built more than 2,000 new plants,” — said in an interview with Reuters, Steinitz.
Waiver from the internal combustion engine and the transition to electric vehicles is part of a larger plan of Israel to completely abandon the use of gasoline, diesel, and coal. In recent years the country has discovered huge reserves of natural gas, so Israel has begun to modernize its power plants under new fuel.

“In 2030 we will not allow anyone to import diesel and gasoline cars in Israel,” said Steinitz.
All new cars will be electric. Public and cargo transport will also be electric, or operate on compressed natural gas.

The relevant bill has already been submitted for review by the government. It is expected that the document will be signed by the end of this year.
