The Federal Antimonopoly service of Russia has prepared amendments to the Civil code, which legalized the import of goods without the permission of the trademark owners. This was told “Vedomosti” that managed to read the documents, whose authenticity was confirmed by the Federal official.
Simply put, these amendments will allow “grey imports”. If they accept, then from 2021 the government will be able to open the border for up to five years for the parallel import of certain goods.
At the moment, imported goods in Russia can only manufacturers or authorized dealers. FAS have been proposed to change this principle, and in February 2018, the constitutional court allowed to import goods without permission of the owner of the brand, overprice.
Proposals for the legalization of parallel imports has been prepared on behalf of the Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev in the end of August.
