With the announcement of Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL Google has updated the support page, extending the period of mandatory release of updates for smartphones Pixel.
Now manufacturers are required to provide major Android updates for two years and monthly security updates for three years.
Google has increased the period for its branded smartphones. Starting from Pixel 2, the smartphones will receive and Android updates, and security updates for three years.
This means that Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL updates will go until October 2021. If Google continues to adhere to its traditional schedule then the smartphones will have time to upgrade to Android S 12. The original Pixel, these changes are not affected and updates for them over on the current version 9 of the Android Pie. However, security updates will be released until October 2019.
