Jetson Xavier: the brain for robots with AI from NVIDIA

At the ongoing international exhibition of high technologies 2018 Computex, NVIDIA has introduced a rather interesting product: the chip called the Jetson Xavier (also known as Isaac), who will act as the brain for robots focused on the use of artificial intelligence and deep machine learning.

The basis of the new system is Xavier Board SoC with integrated cooling system and the ports for connecting various interfaces. The Board itself contains 9 billion transistors, and the computing power of the Board is equal to 30 teraflops. In addition, there are 8 CPU cores (Carmel ARM64 CPU) and Volta GPU with 512 stream processors and 20 transistor cores. To power required no more than 30 watts. Overall, the development cost the company NVIDIA of 2 billion U.S. dollars. And as the President said NVIDIA Gensun Juan

“This little computer will be the brain of future robots. This is the longest and most expensive project we ever did in our company. In addition to the huge sums of money to develop, according to our calculations, took about 8000 person-years. When power consumption 30 watt Jetson Xavier has almost the same computing power as huge workstations costing $ 10,000, but it is much cheaper”.

Release Jetson Xavier scheduled for the end of August 2018 at a price of 1299 USD. At the same time the company wants to present their own robot that will work on the new platform, using all available at the time of release function.
