A consortium of Vnesheconombank, the company “VEB Innovations” Fund of perspective researches (FPI), Lomonosov Moscow state University and ANO “Digital economy” in the next five years is going to invest heavy duty quantum computer 900 million roubles, writes the newspaper “Izvestia” with reference to the head of information research FPI Sergei Garbuk.
Garbuk also reported that in parallel with the development will be created and new algorithms for specific tasks.
“Without appropriate software of a quantum computer will have no practical significance. The creation of quantum algorithms will allow to speak about an absolutely new quality solutions to such problems, large computational complexity, as the simulation of intellectual abilities, the optimal distribution of transport and logistics flows, weather forecasting and other”, — quote “Izvestia” Darbuka.
The agreement on creation in Russia of 50-kubango quantum computer Vnesheconombank, the Foundation for advanced studies, “VEB innovations”, Moscow state University and ANO “Digital economy” signed on 15 February in the Russian investment forum “Sochi-2018”.
According to this document, the parties will jointly implement a comprehensive research project on the creation of mnogoserijnogo optical quantum simulator based on the photonic chip and of neutral atoms, as well as to develop the necessary research and technological infrastructure. In the framework of cooperation it is planned to conduct consultations, working meetings and other events, during which the two sides will jointly be posed and solved applied problems in the field of quantum technologies.
Head of the laboratory of artificial quantum systems MIPT Oleg Astafyev said that the working system of 50 qubits can be created in five years, as this area of knowledge is rapidly developing. The project will significantly speed up calculations and to solve problems which are too complex for modern supercomputers.
