Fikkende BMW’s for relletje in America

‘Spontaneous’ combustion in optima forma, or a storm in a glass of water?

What is going on? BMW owners and fire brigades across the United States to the call. It would, in the past few years, dozens of BMW’s spontaneously going up in flames are flown. It went to a parked car whose engine was turned off.

One of the owners, Bill Macko, was a true BMW-freak. He knew even as much as to convince people of BMW’s superiority that a local dealer regularly financially rewarded. On an angry day summed up his X5, however flame while the car with the engine off in the garage. Many of the firefighters could not prevent the SUV completely burnt down and unfortunately it was also the house itself in the ashes.

Bill turned out not to be the only one. According to ABC News flew in the past five years, more than 40 American, still BMW’s spontaneously going up in flames. Dealers of the brand would the consumer out in the cold. We take that statement with a small grain of salt, since American consumers the things “differently” than we do. Especially when it comes to foreign products, see Dieselgate.

According to BMW, it is possible that the cars catch fire due to issues such as rodents, aftermarket adjustments and maintenance performed by unauthorized technicians. Remains still the question remained how it is possible that a parked car without a running motor is suddenly in the hands can fly. It must have something to do with electrical systems that also remain active when the car is turned off.

BMW responded by e-mail on the message of ABC, the subject of the message was “Sensationalistic ABC Reports on BMWs Expected”. Not really a useful move if you ask us, but good. The purpose of the statement of the brand is that in America nearly 5 million BMW’s driving around. The fikgevallen are examined, and there was no connection between the origin of the fires and possible shortcomings on the part of BMW.
