Lease: Ford Fiesta, or Nissan Micra

Good news: you can upgrade! But which compact maniac do you want for the door?

Not so long ago, we discussed the choice between these two lease cars. The loafers you may choose when you first kantoorbaantje. But imagine that you are not at all sour, and you gets a promotion. An a – to B-segmenter is a fine step. You are no longer at the bottom end of the automotive foodchain. You should do some more miles to go, and so that is a dieseltje nice.

Until a few years ago, this market was dominated by tight, efficient beetles as the Polo Bluemotion, the Corsa EcoFlex, and all sorts of other environmentally friendly rivulet. The downside of that car was that the motor is the experience dominated. In the NEDC they were superzuinig, but in real life, fell persuaded you will never get the numbers. Fortunately, there are two new candidates have come onto the market. The Ford Fiesta has just been updated and the fresh Nissan Micra has recently been at the dealers. In the following table you can see how they relate to each other.

What strikes us
The first thing we’re looking at is the consumption. The NEDC figures are quite similar to the muesli-hatchbacks of a few years ago. That is particularly clever, because this is quite a luxury-equipped B-segmenters with a normal four-cylinder diesel engine. Equipment: both the Ford and the Nissan are pretty complete. Both of them have items as Cruise Control, Climate Control, audio with USB port, alloy wheels, rain sensitive wipers, lance-assist and hill-hold assist. The Micra is a bit more expensive, but that’s because parking sensors, rear view camera-camera and in particular a navigation system is standard. The Fiesta around with sports seats and an automatically dimming rear-view mirror.

Appearance
The Fiesta of the previous generation was a snazzy appearance. The current there seems to be a lot, but is all in all, something mature. The differences take @dizono by in this article. The rear lights are not that high instances and also the front view is a little less sharp. That is, on the one hand a pity, on the other hand, it is now more of a friends with everyone. It is, however, a design where the implementation is a huge difference. Pastel colours (as shown on below picture) don’t really fit in the car, the big wheels again.

At Nissan they have made work of the new Micra. The previous two generations were mostly very cute. Fortunately, they have that style thrown overboard in favor of a sturdier design. The front is typical of Nissan in the year 2017, with more than a hint of GT-R. You can worse take. The rear is more constrained while the side view reveals that the car is actually a Renault Clio. The designers have clever work and focused.

Interior
This was not a strong point of the old Fiesta. Saw that there in itself is funny, but no class-leader in the field of materials and workmanship. That is when the new much better for each other, thanks to this Dutchman. You look now at a fine dashboard. It is what more and more boring than before, but if you have lots of mileage it is nice to be in an orderly environment. In particular, the large device looks fine. Better than the iPad-like screens in some ‘premium’ cars.

With the Micra, it is also much more mature than before. Now this was not so very difficult, but on the whole displays coherent. On the photos shows it as floral, but that is because of the chosen color. That orange bar, and various orange accents brighten up the whole well. Also here is the navigation system, neatly concealed, that is not always has been the B-segment cars.

Drive
Normally, this is always the site of Ford. The Fiesta we know as a cheerful pretletter. Even in a basic implementation, you could have the most fun. We have not yet with the new Fiesta ridden, but the chance is likely that the driving characteristics are still at a high level. But if we look at the latest Focus and Mondeo has the edge, something (to a broader audience to speak). For the sporty driving characteristics are it saves nothing, but for the looks perhaps: the Fiesta is also driedeurs.

Just as with the Ford, we also have no miles with the Nissan Micra. But is that really the case? Because technically the car for a large part similar to the Clio. Casper last year, driven the facelifted Clio and was especially pleased with the fine dieselblokje: creamy, smooth, quiet, and best smooth.

Conclusion
Two times a great offering in this class. 20 mille for a B-segment car seems to very very much (that is almost 40,000 Dutch guilders). But in terms of security, consumption, and equipment, they are completely up-to-date. The Ford Fiesta is now slightly less characteristic, while Nissan understand that character to the search was on for the Micra. So now the choice is up to you. Which will you choose? And especially: why?
