In the Internet appeared the official press release HDMI 2.1, which gives details about the massive update. Among the innovations: support for higher screen refresh rate and 4K, 8K and 10K (when such displays will appear), increased up to 48 GB/s bandwidth (up to 18 Gbps).
Also of note is the dynamic HDR mode and Game Mode VRR that uses a variable refresh rate. The latter resembles the technology G-Sync/Freesync (NVIDIA and AMD respectively) for computer monitors and may be relevant, for example, Scorpio Xbox if Microsoft will include in the new console support HDMI 2.1.
Of course, to appreciate all the charm of HDMI 2.1, you need a TV that support it. In game consoles, however, some new functions may be added together with updates.
