The Porsche 911 is known as a really circuitbeest. Not surprising, when you consider that this icon in the course of the years up to 20.000 victories to date. The 911 SC Safari won’t, but is no less legendary.

As the technicians of Porsche bite into a project, you can be sure that they don’t half work. Therefore, we need only to the previously listed number of victories to point to. In 1978, winning the East African Safari Rally high on the wish list.

Although you have a Porsche and not directly in the African desert would expect, was the 911 SC Safari (almost) all expectations. The standard 911 only got a raised suspension, off-road tires, extra headlights, a reinforced body and a roll cage, but came awfully close to victory.

Porsche had a few hours before the finish the first place in hands, to the 911 on a rock and clapped at the crossing of a river. The rear suspension was seriously damaged, and the crippled Porsche finished ‘only’ second.
