Russian owners of the UAV will be obliged to register drones in the FSB

In Russia there will be a mandatory registration of unmanned aerial vehicles. Their registration will be to engage Federal security service. The corresponding decree was signed by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

The owners of the drones, as purchased in Russia and imported to Russia from abroad, will be required to register them with Supervisory authority. In charge of the Agency will be required to provide information about the country-manufacturer of the drone, its serial number, year of manufacture, the purpose of the device and its maximum takeoff weight, and the type, number and power of its engines.

In addition, the owners of the UAV will need to report to the FSB the owner’s name (or the name of the organization that owns the UAV), the date and place of birth and his passport number and contact details.

The corresponding decree on compulsory registration of unmanned aerial vehicles, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed on December 30, 2015. Under this decree, registration is required for all unmanned aircraft weighing more than 250 grams. The signed bill will take effect in early April 2016.

It should be noted that, for example, in the United States also enacted a similar law, but the registration procedure is unmanned there is a little bit easier. To date, the US has registered more than 300,000 owners of the UAV.
