Why the Earth is spinning but we do not notice?

Let me congratulate you: currently are you spinning at the speed of 1500 km/h without even trying really. Approximately with such speed the Earth rotates, making a complete revolution. Why we do not feel it? The roller coaster stomach threatened to empty its contents, but it’s a lot slower than 1500 km/h You don’t feel that spin on the Ground for the same reason do not feel the movement of the train. Because the Earth and train are “systems of reference” for physicists. The reference system is as a point of view perspective. The man standing on the train, has a single perspective, a single system of reference — and the man at the station — different.

If you are standing on the station platform, you will certainly see stationary platform and a departing train. But inside the train you will feel motionless, while the world will leave you. From any point of view, you will still. From the train you can watch how the world moves, on the platform you can observe how the train is moving.

The same is true for Earth and space, but on a larger scale. Inside the reference system of the Earth, say you are spinning, you can’t. But if you observe the Earth in the reference frame of the cosmos, you can see that it is not in place.

And as the passengers sitting in the train, we don’t even realize how fast moving — even the wind rustles our hair. The air inside the train (and the atmosphere surrounding our planet) are moving with the same speed as us.

There is one important difference between the train and the Ground. When the train slows down or speeds up, we can sense the emerging force on your body. Because there is a simple law of physics: force equals mass multiplied by acceleration. Your body is weight and when the acceleration is zero when the train is moving with constant velocity on a body force is exerted. You can’t feel it. But when the train accelerates or decelerates, the force is. If you stand the wrong time, you just get knocked down.

Since most trains are more likely to change the speed, rather than moving with a constant, we can almost always determine not moving or standing still. The earth is not slowing down and not accelerating. But if I accelerated or slowed, we would be really felt and in the train. Fortunately, this is not happening. And we don’t feel the motion of the Earth. But the Sun and Moon rise in the East and sets in the West inscribed the direction of our rotation. So people have guessed that the Earth does not stand still. And yet it moves!
