Recently, the automaker has announced that it has developed and patented a system of cryptocurrency transactions between the cars. The idea is that drivers will be able to use the blockchain for communication between each other and will be able to use cryptocurrency to pay to reduce congestion of roads, writes Coindesk.
The patent called “communication between vehicles to organize traffic.” He has already published, certified, and all rights therein are owned by Ford Global Technologies, LLC.
The basic idea of a patent is to try to avoid congestion by linking vehicles together to coordinate speeds. This method will help to protect drivers from “the reckless behavior of some drivers who pursue their individual goals in relation to temporary cost of the trip”.
The system will allow certain groups of vehicles to travel at higher speeds and interact among themselves, while other vehicles will be expected to take a more slow lanes while allowing others to commit, if necessary overtaking maneuvers and speed.
The document mentions and token CMMP, which will be used to carry out transactions with the aim of regrouping of vehicles in lanes and in some cases it will help to pay for the redistribution of lanes between cars. For example, a single token will be equal to ten seconds of travel privileges, 60 tokens will provide ten minutes for priority traffic on the open lane on the road and so on.
