Remember the droedeka? Kynoselen robot from “Star wars” looks like a spider, able to move quickly through the ability to curl up, so got the nickname of “rolling death”? Now a German robotics from our beloved Festo presented its actual implementation. But unlike his cinematic prototype new from Festo has no protective field (phew!) and powerful lasers that robot in the movie dexterously crumbled all in a row (double phew!).
In fact, unlike the movie droid, which is a complete imagination of the creators of the film, new from Festo have created quite a real prototype of the spider Capparaceae aureola. This tiny, no larger than 20 millimeters, able to deftly curl up in a ball and quickly escape from predators in case of danger.
Robot BionicWheelBot from German robototehnical, which is going to show at the German industrial fair Hannover Messe in 2018, the size is much larger than its real counterpart, but is able to do the same. In a normal state, the robot moves on eight legs, but if necessary, rolls up quickly and rolls, starting from earth two.
In contrast, the same guys from Boston Dynamic, creating SpotMini ATLAS robots in the future are able to “move” the humanity, especially after all the humiliation that they had to endure from the pathetic pieces of meat, the robotics division of Festo approaches the issue with a larger share of romance. Often the prototypes of their machines are different animals and insects, kangaroos, butterflies, dragonflies…
From a practical point of view of the robot BionicWheelBot in the future due to its capabilities can be seen as a great scout of the area. It can slowly and quietly move behind the rocks, bushes and other obstacles, checking the situation around, and in the absence of danger or, on the contrary, her presence and quickly retreat in the folded state.
