Formed by 22 people, a team of NASA astronauts for future space missions

The us space Agency NASA announced the completion of the 22-th group, consisting of 12 astronauts. Participants were recruited from different parts of the U.S., bringing the team includes nuclear physicist, mechanic and aerospace engineer, biologist, participated in research in Antarctica, test pilot, military medic, military helicopter pilot, researchers from the laboratory of NASA JPL, an employee of the company SpaceX and other important professionals. All these lucky people will undergo training of astronauts, they will participate in future space missions NASA.

The potential astronauts were selected from 18 300 volunteers who applied to participate in the contest. The requirements for candidates were the following: a bachelor’s degree in STEM (stands for Science, technology, engineering and mathematics), three or more years of work in my profession (or one thousand flight hours on jet plane), as well as compliance with medical standards for a job at NASA. Each candidate will pass a two-year training course that includes physical exercise, a simulation of movement in zero gravity (simulated in the pools), learning to control the space ships, as well as numerous tests and trials obtained in the course of learning skills.

As we have noted above, this 22-th class, recruited by NASA in 1959. The first set included the famous Alan Shepard became the first American astronaut. The eighth set of 1978 included the first woman astronaut, first astronaut-African American. The previous 21-th set of 2013 included an equal number of women and men. Members of the 22nd team in the future to select to send astronauts to the ISS, to manned missions to the moon and perhaps even Mars.
