Zagato Mostro: Italian curves were rarely so sexy

Zagato let our jaws once again, collective fall to the ground, with the best automotive booty of 2015.

This weekend begins the annual Concorso d’Eleganza in the backyard of the Villa d’este where BMW will also sponsor the autofeestje – us will entertain with a tribute to the 3.0 CSL. Zagato has in the meantime also something interesting ready: the Maserati Mostro.

The Mostro is on a chassis of carbon fiber, supplemented with steel in and around the cockpit. The outer, more curves showing than the selfies of Amber Rose, is also built from carbon fiber. The looks are an unambiguous reference to the original ‘mostro’ (Italian for monster), from 1957; the Maserati 450S Coupe. Also designed by Zagato, where they had help from the Englishman Frank Costin. This car was built to compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with none other than Stirling Moss behind the wheel.

The design of the racer is characterized by a low nose, a lot of glass surface, and a round rear part. Under the hood is a V8 from Maserati, linked to a six-speed gearbox between the rear wheels is placed. The Italians do not make any statements about the ability (to this kind of work of art is also not of vital importance), but do know that the car is in an edition of 5 pieces will be made.

The first instance is a black model with a fixed rear spoiler. On the press plates, we can also see a red variant without spoiler, so go from that this is optional. Below, you will hear that magnificent achtcilinder already just roar, prior to his unveiling at Villa d’este, with bystanders who spontaneously start to clap. We understand, however, just look at it!
