New MINI Clubman: this is him

The modern MINI (with capital letters) now has its third generation of models to ride, time for a new Clubman. All sharp/distinctive edges of the first Clubman, there are afgevijld, as seen in these leaked photos.

Let’s begin with what the Clubman mk.1 (yes nostalgisten, there were in the previous century also Clubmannen, but we have it now on the MINI) so distinctive: its single door on the right. That is gone, poof.

Instead, it is (quite the concept) a long, beaten down station wagon with the typical MINI characteristics (call it a beaten Countryman). That is to say: completely covered with logos and a styling that still is too busy for an ADHD’er.

You love it or you hate it, and it is up to you to guess in which camp I, the undersigned resides. But even if it is the car, in addition to the double back door/-flap, are the real distinguishing features is lost, it is by no means a model that is thirteen-in-a-dozen. The photos incidentally were accidentally/on purpose on Facebook posted by a French dealer. Thanks!

The British would probably be the best with the word ‘quirky‘ to describe it, there is a car with an identity of its own, and the designers then the credits for that. Absolutely the most eye-catching is the back of the new Clubman, with its oversized tail lamps and ratatouille to opplak-letters.

Details are not yet known, but the motoriseringen are obvious: BMW’s modular 3 – and 4-cylinder gasoline models, and a four-cylinder dieselvariant. The 1.6 messages belong to the past.

UPDATE: The new MINI Clubman stands from the 31st of October at the MINI dealer. The Clubman is at € 23.990 with a leasetarief from € 449. Market launch is a choice of three engine variants, a piece of a new generation with MINI TwinPower Turbo technology. The four-cylinder diesel engine of 110 kW (150 hp) is an industry first in the MINI Cooper D Clubman. The MINI Cooper Clubman has a three-cylinder petrol engine with 100 kW (136 hp) and MINI Cooper S Clubman is a four-cylinder petrol engine with 141 kW (192 hp). Depending on the chosen version is the fuel consumption between 4,1 and 6.2 l/100 km* average. The CO2 emissions come out at values of 109 to 144 g/km. The MINI Cooper D Clubman is in 2015 in the 20% bijtellingscategorie.
