Ugly cars out there, there are was of. But why are some cars so ugly? Sometimes the details, often, are the wrong proportions that started.

With proportions we mean basic characteristics of a design, which is often early in the design process. Think of the placement of the wheels and associated overhang, the height of the windows compared to the height of the car, or the ratio of the width, length and height. Trivial features of a design can break or make.

You can as a designer, so do your best, but if the proportions are already not correct, then your design is doomed to fail. That many of those failed designs in the showroom instead of in the trash end up, is especially something that we the board of directors of the responsible manufacturers blame can take.

The following eleven models are typical examples of cars in which the proportions of no meter correct, and, therefore, with no possibility for successful designs. Of course, this is an extremely subjective list, so please fill in the comments.

Ford Focus CC

Ford Focus CC
Almost any Coupe-Cabriolet would be in this list, but Ford made it with the Focus very much fur. As much overhang at the rear, who does this ever get approved?

Ferrari 612 Scaglietti

Ferrari 612 Scaglietti
Ford had at least an excuse for the fat ass of the Focus CC, there had to be, after all, a complete roof in the trunk fit. With the 612’s is the ass visually much thicker than the light cream and that leads to a pretty unbalanced design. A pity, because predecessor 456 GT/M approached perfection on four wheels.

Opel Rekord Coupe

Opel Rekord Coupe
The Opel Rekord Coupe is a typical example of a three box design. The car consists of three volumes: front, passenger compartment and rear. In this case, the rear volume, however, is much too long in comparison with the front, where it does not help that the rear window is much increased than the windshield

Mercedes Vaneo

Mercedes-Benz Vaneo
All proportions are looking at this fabrication of Mercedes. We all agree, right?

Hyundai Atoz

Hyundai Atoz
The what bad Korean design helps, of course not, but such a narrow, high car on such small wheels, there may even be the best car designer nothing more of baking.

Marcos Mantis
According to many, is the Bounce the ugliest car ever, personally I’d rather stick with this Marcos Mantis. Every time I take a picture of this device, see, I run to the bathroom to Glorix in my eyes to paint.

Treser Audi Quattro Roadster
Forward, one coupe-cabriolet. Treser was one of the pioneers in the field of steel klapdaken, but visually responsible proportions, he has no cheese eaten.

Nissan Versa

Nissan Versa
In the Netherlands, fortunately, not available Nissan actually has two big problems: too small wheels and the roofline. The roofline has been running for the B-pillar back, making the front and back not certain one harmonious whole seem to form.

Rolls Royce Vignale

Rolls Royce Silver Wraight LWB by Vignale
Come, let’s all do things differently, they thought they had to Vignale. It provided not only a terribly ugly front on, but also a horrible side view. If someone with photoshop the rear wheel to the front and the roof just a little to the rear.

Toyota Mirai

Toyota Mirai
In the Mirai, it is necessary gone wrong during the design process. First of all, the mutual relationships complete search. Giant air tubes to the front, surmounted by a set of very economical looking koplampjes. Also the back seem to be the designers some random lights against the car thrown in, while the car from the side gezen a kind of strange calm hat on seems to have.

Porsche 64

Porsche 64
Designed in 1939 for the KdF-wagen of some positive attention to help. This Porsche Type 64 is seen by many as the first model of Porsche, and demonstrates all the necessary characteristics of the 356. But with a very narrow bovenkantje, as if the Lord is a little too hard a squeeze as he the Porsche Type 64 on the world continued.

Italdesign Capsula

Bonus: ItalDesign Capsula
No production model, but this concept from 1982 may not be missing. Apparently it was Giorgetto Giugiaro, the necessary, the modular Capsula with a strange high house with two glass edges. The top edge are the normal diamonds, the usefulness of the bottom edge eludes me completely. The view from the outside on the trousers or rokkeuze of the passengers is in any case optimal.
