Seems like bad news too Don't you like reading bad news? Now you can explain your feelings scientifically: researchers have proven that even two minutes of reading negative messages is bad for a person's emotional state. Discuss
Psychologists from the University of Essex have experimentally established that bad news about the coronavirus spoils the mood very quickly – in just two to four minutes. At the same time, good news does not negatively affect the emotional state.
In the first experiment, volunteers read news about coronavirus infection on Twitter. In the second, participants watched videos about the pandemic on YouTube. In both cases, people began to feel worse. Volunteers who did not read the bad news, however, did not experience anything negative.
Scientists believe that prolonged exposure to bad news can have serious mental health consequences.
