New Lexus LX is all grille

Do you also think the grille of the Toyota Land Cruiser is so small? Then you must have this Lexus LX.

Earlier this year there was the brand new Toyota Land Cruiser. It was to be expected that a brand new Lexus LX would follow shortly. That name probably doesn't mean much to the European part of our readers, but this is the luxury version of the Land Cruiser.

Just about all the news there was to report about the new Land Cruiser therefore also applies to this Lexus LX. The car is on the new TNGA-F platform that, in addition to the Land Cruiser, also the Toyota Tundra uses. This means that the car is still on a ladder chassis. Like the Land Cruiser, the LX has shed some 200kg over its predecessor, thanks to a lightweight aluminum roof. Despite this, of course, it remains a mastodon.

Yet mastodons also move with the times. The V8 has had to clear the field. The LX now has a 3.5 liter V6 diesel with two turbos. This is good for 415 hp and 650 Nm of torque.

< p>In terms of appearance, the basis of the Land Cruiser is recognizable, but the LX has been given its own look. In other words: the patented 'in your face' look from Lexus. What is especially striking is the grille, which has taken on gigantic dimensions. This could very well be the largest grille on a production car (although the Tundra is also a good contender).

Just like the exterior, Lexus has also topped the interior with their own sauce. It therefore all looks a bit nicer and more premium. Less attractive is the top infotainment screen which is clumsy in the middle of the dashboard. Lexus apparently could not do with one screen, because there is also a smaller screen underneath. The LX is available as a seven-seater, but you can also opt for four separate seats, so you have plenty of space.

The LX has its world premiere in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which is anything but a surprising choice. These are pre-eminently the countries where they get hot from a luxury Land Cruiser. As long as they weren't hot yet. The new Lexus LX will be available from next year, obviously not in our region.
