If Victor Mids were a car. The Mercedes Vision AVTR comes pretty close.
There are currently various concepts at the IAA. But one is not the other. With this concept you can already guess that this car will never come on the market in this form. It is therefore not about the appearance of the Mercedes Vision AVTR, but about what it can do. And that's a lot.
Everything revolves around BCI with this Mercedes. That abbreviation stands for Brain-computer interface. In plain language, that means a computer can read what kind of signal your brain is sending. So if during a drive you have to think about that annoying fat aunt who is having her birthday soon, the car can already cancel the appointment. A bit extreme, but it comes down to the same thing.
Mercedes uses slightly friendlier examples in the case of the Vision AVTR. For example, you can set the navigation destination based on your thoughts. This sounds like a new Steven Spielberg movie. Still, you can try it out for yourself at the IAA. Visitors who take a seat in the concept get a BCI device on their head for one minute. This machine calibrates and analyzes the brain. That information is then passed on to the car. You can then communicate with the car in real time via BCI.
Let's just hope you don't get any private thoughts with occupants in the car. That can lead to uncomfortable situations.
