Peugeot 308
We are now accustomed to the second generation, but the previous generation can, if occasion be very interesting.

In June 2007, introduced Peugeot’s successor to the 307, and in september, the car is actually in the sale. In the Netherlands we received initially two flavours: the hatchback and the station (SW). In 2009, the convertible. There was also a sedan, but that in the Netherlands it was not sold. In 2011, the 308 gefacelift and in 2014 was the second generation introduced. In 2008, the 308 was nominated for the Car of the Year election. Also won the Engine of the Year Award in 2009, with the 1.6 THP engine.

The Peugeot 308 was to get with a sizeable variety of gasoline and diesel engines. Petrol engines were available ranging from 95 to 200 hp, dieselen could from 90 to 140 hp.

Offer on Marketplace
On Marktplaats.nl are currently about 840 308 of the first generation to purchase, with about two-thirds of a gasoline and the rest diesel. There are also over fifteen car’s on LPG. There are something more hatchbacks than drives to purchase (415 versus 365). There are at the time of writing 60 convertibles to purchase. About 1 in 9 cars is an automatic.

Prices start at just under 4000 euro. The most expensive hatchbacks and SW’s costs to a maximum of approximately 20,000 euros.

Pros

  • Fine engine line-up
  • Reliable
  • Safe (5 NCAP stars)

Issues

  • High tildrempel trunk. This helps the stiffness of the body to achieve, but it is not very practical.
  • The keys disintegrate faster than a sugar cube in a glass of water.
  • The 308 is quite heavy, skip less than the instapbenzine because that should actually be a little bit too hard work for all the kilos.
  • The 1.6 HDi diesel gives sometimes a rattling sound. This is usually the rear engine mount at the bottom of the block to be replaced.
  • The 1.6 HDi has sometimes suffered from a doorgescheurde wiring harness above the rear engine mount, so the motor is not cranking.
  • The clutch pressure plate of the clutch of the 1.6 HDi seems to be the above often come in.
  • The petrol engines have an electronic control of the water pump. Sometimes this piece and running the engine warm.
  • The petrol engines can sometimes suffer from a leaking temperature sensor of the coolant. If the meter is too low a temperature and/or the engine is running poorly, then this may be an indication of this problem.
  • The plastic brackets that the headlights in their place seem to be of the best quality. They break more often, with loose headlight units as a result. Check whether this not have cracks or are already degraded.
  • The lights, particularly the rear light units appear to be the above often come in.
  • If the dashboard or ignition switch not work, this is usually due to a broken fuse.
  • The old viertrapsautomaat (rare in the Netherlands) does not seem to be the most reliable. Is from 2010 it is replaced by the much better six-speed automatic transmission.
  • The CC has sporadic problems with the closing of roof and windows. Of course, equally extensive testing.
