This is a measure taken as part of the “anti-crisis support program for telecom operators”. The moratorium will last until the end of 2022.
Last year it was reported that the cost of installing an LTE base station in a village is 3-7 million rubles. The costs of operators to cover settlements with high-quality communications can vary from 15 to 35 billion rubles. As for federal highways, the level of LTE coverage does not even reach 70%. Now, at least until the end of 2022, the situation will not improve.
Back in January, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko announced that all Russian federal highways would be equipped with stable mobile communications of the LTE standard no later than 2031. How far the deadlines will shift is unclear.
