According to the lead project manager Ivan Danilov, the work is proceeding according to the schedule – it is planned to produce several dozen small spacecraft of a new generation, which will be located in a low circular orbit (1.5 thousand km above the ground).
It is reported that a constellation of 32 satellites will have to ensure the continuous provision of telephony and data services on the territory of the Russian Federation. It is also noted that the system of the new generation “Gonets” will be able to provide continuous services for 40 thousand subscribers of mobile satellite communications.
If we talk about the service life of the devices, it was stated that the period of their active use will be ten years.
