A cheaper Hyundai EV should be cheaper than the i30.
It makes sense that most electric cars are quite pricey. At least, the good electric cars. After all, there is more money to be made for a manufacturer. In that regard, it is not surprising that most brands bet on medium to large crossovers. Because of the large sales numbers and the large margins, it is simply the most interesting.
But eventually all cars must become electric. We are already seeing that many manufacturers are ignoring the A-segment. Or, they don't invest in it anymore. The Volkswagen Up, Citroen C1, Renault Twingo, Fiat Panda: they are all somewhat older models that have been around for a long time. With the i10 (since 2019), Hyundai is one of the few brands with a 'fresh' auto.

Even cheaper Hyundai EV
Hyundai also plans to make electric driving affordable. At the end, Hyundai wants the prices between electric cars and cars with a combustion engine to be equal. This is confirmed by product planning manager Chris Saltapidas Australian Car Sales.
Not only will the prices of the electric models fall, cheaper models must also be added. In terms of price and dimensions, the car will be close to the Hyundai i30 and Venue (think of the Bayon in Europe). That 16,000 euros has been converted from the 25,000 Australian dollars.

Of course, Saltapidas cannot give definitive plans and timeframes, except that the even cheaper Hyundai EV is on the schedule. Hyundai currently already has two relatively affordable electric cars in the showroom: the Kona Electric (from 34 mille) and Ioniq Electric (37 mille). The new affordable electric car from Hyundai will be around 22 mille (base price Bayon) and 26 mille (base price i30). At least, judging by the words of Saltapidas.

We do assume that the even cheaper Hyundai EV will be built on a ‘pure'; EV platform. The Ioniq and Kona electric are both on a platform that is also used for cars with a combustion engine. The new electric Hyundai's (such as the Ioniq 5) are on a unique platform.
