Analysts studied 100 news sites in the United States that are read by a Hispanic audience. Over the year, 28% of Hispanic content contained information labeled as conspiracy or pseudoscientific. They distribute this content through instant messengers like WhatsApp.
Researchers noted that white people in the US are less likely to see fake information than Hispanics. Also, according to the authors of the work, young Hispanics aged 18-34 years are twice as likely than the general population to use WhatsApp and Telegram.
The researchers added that the life of Hispanics in the US it is often compared to the life of migrants, although most of the younger Hispanics are not. However, they consume information in a slightly different way.
