A very, very last encore on wheels. That is the Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae in a nutshell.

Unfortunately, tough times are ahead for the petrolhead. The supercars are going to be a little less fun. The noisy, theatrical engines will eventually disappear. The Doors frontman Jim Morrison summed it up nicely in the song The End:

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend
The end
Of our elaborate plans
The end
Of everything that stands
The end
No safety or surprise
The end
I'll never look into your eyes
Again

But before the last car with only a naturally aspirated twelve-cylinder engine is taken out of production, we celebrate one last time 'party'. The Italians naturally do that with a special edition, in this case the Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae. As the name suggests it is the ultimate edition of their V12 flagship.

Before the above sounds too dramatic: the twelve-cylinder engine will return for one more generation, but then with the assistance of electric motors (before Lamborghinis also go electric). To make sure it really is a special edition, the engine of the Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae has been overhauled.

The block of the Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae now delivers no less than 780 hp. Mind you, those are atmospheric horses. So very enthusiastic and noisy horses! The torque of 730 Nm is equal to that of the SV J, on which this swing-out model is based.

Just like the swing-out models of the Countach and the Diablo, there is no spoiler on the rear. In terms of bodywork and carbon fiber extras, Lamborghini has chosen the nicest parts of the S and SV J. In terms of performance, the swing-away Aventador is the fastest Aventador of all time. Sprinting from 0-100 km/h takes just 2.8 seconds. The top speed is 355 km/h.

Rare

You can choose from a closed version (coupé) or an open version, the Roadster. 350 coupes will be built. The Roadster is slightly rarer with 250 copies. In short, our man in the raincoat was not wrong. Especially for the Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae, there are new color schemes that you can choose from. Prices are not yet known, but count (at least) on the price of a well-decorated Aventador SV J. We estimate around 525,000 euros.
