Nokia and Apple announced the termination of a patent dispute. They were able to come to an agreement, having settled all their disputes related to intellectual property. The settlement was signed multi-year patent license.
In the framework of the cooperation, Nokia will give Apple a range of products and services related to network infrastructure. In turn, Apple will again begin to sell in its retail stores and online shop Nokia gadgets for fitness and health, previously produced under the brand Withings. Apple stopped selling them in 2016, after Nokia put forward claims on the patents. The company is also exploring opportunities for future cooperation in the field of digital medicine and health.
The size of the patent royalties were not disclosed, but it is noted that the specific amounts will be calculated based on total sales of Nokia Technologies on a patent license, and the total sales of other divisions of Nokia.
Recall, the new stage of the patent war between Nokia and Apple began in December of 2016, breaking the truce concluded in 2011 after two years of court wrangling and recriminations.
