ANKARA –
As the German soldiers are withdrawn from air base Incirlik in Turkey, says the Turkish government’s “good bye.” The departure of the troops for Turkey, “no big problem”, said the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan Wednesday in Ankara.
Berlin suggested previously to consider the approximately 250 German soldiers of the air base to move to a different place of employment in the region, such as Jordan. The reason is a conflict with the Turkish government, which refuses German parliamentarians to give permission to men to visit.
It is Ankara in the wrong throat shot that Germany asylum has been granted to Turkish soldiers. The Turkish minister Mevlüt Çavusoglu (Foreign Affairs) said last week that his government does not intend the Germans to “beg” to continue. “If they want to leave, they are free to go.”
