Full list of innovations in the upcoming Android 12L (Android 12.1)

Android 12L is expected to change the user interface and add useful new features to make the tablet experience easier. More on everything below.

1. Updated applications and system elements . The interface for Google applications such as Files, Gmail, Google, and Messages has changed. In addition, they can be used simultaneously thanks to the split screen function.

2. Lock screen, Always function -on display and home screen … The design of the lock screen is similar to that of Android 12. When you receive a notification, the clock will automatically move to the left side of the screen. If the user needs to change the account, he can do this by clicking on the icon in the upper right corner. Optionally, you can add various buttons to the lock screen, for example, to access Google Pay.

In the Always-on display mode, the clock, the battery level will be displayed. Instead of the notifications themselves, icons will also be visible here.

And thanks to Launcher3, you can display two desktops at the same time.

3. Notification panel and power menu … Here, too, there is a split screen. That is, in one part there is a notification panel, and in the other – quick settings (up to eight parameters). By clicking on the shutdown icon at the bottom of the quick settings panel, you can call the Google Assistant (if necessary, in the settings you can set it so that the power menu is called up in this case).

4. Windows changes open applications … Now the window of the last opened application is larger than the rest. There is also a split screen button under this window.

5. UI changes … Going to the “Colors” section through the items “Settings” – “Display” – “Colors”, you will see how changing the display mode will affect the colors of the interface. In addition, the audio slider is now in the middle and the default wallpaper has been updated.

6. Taskbar … Android 12L will have a completely new taskbar. It will be visible only on devices with a display size of more than 600 dpi. It is located at the bottom of the screen. The user can choose five applications to be displayed there. When you start any of the programs in full screen mode, this taskbar is automatically minimized.

7. tostrong> Function Notification window … This allows the user to quickly view notifications in split-screen mode and drag and drop them from one screen to another. I must say that this function is still being tested.

8. Dynamic change of interface colors – Material You function . Now this function is in the system by default. In addition, support for dynamic colors in the loading animation has been added.

9. Duration of pressing and holding the power button . This is now regulated. In the “Press and hold the power button” section, a new item has appeared – “Press and hold duration”, which means that the user can choose the level of button sensitivity: from short (250 ms) to long (750 ms).

Quick wallpaper selection … This can be done directly in the context menu on the main screen. As for the parameters themselves in the context menu, their sequence has changed: first comes “Wallpaper and style”, then “Widgets”, then “Settings”.

11. New smileys support . 37 new emojis will be added to the arsenal. In this case, their total number will be 3633.
