The winners of the “Asian Nobel prize” of astronomy, medicine and mathematics

In 2002, a Chinese philanthropist Shao Yifu has established an annual international award to reward scientists whose discoveries have had a positive impact on humanity. The award was named after him and, according to tradition, it is awarded outstanding people of the three scientific fields: astronomy, medicine and mathematics. The winners, in addition to the medal, a cash award in the amount of 1.2 million us dollars.

As always, in 2019 for the nomination of candidates was invited reputable scientists who are experts in each of the three award areas. So, the chair of the section of astronomy is a German astrophysicist Reinhard Genzel, section of medicine, directs the American cytologist, Raindi Schekman, and at the head of the mathematical section is the British mathematician William Timothy Gowers.
